Worthy of Misfortune

This is the final film I made at PCFE (Prague Film School for Further Education). It was shot on HDV at my apartment in Prague and at the Lamborghini Torino cafĂ©. I wrote, directed, edited, and produced the film. I also acted in the lead role. In the writing process, I intended it to be a drama but as I rewrote new drafts, it morphed into a dark comedy. Therefore I deem it a “dramedy.” The film was well received at the faculty and student screening. It was also nominated for a screenwriting award by the faculty.

The United Greek System of America

This is a film I made as a thesis project for my Cinema Studies major as well as for my Slavic Languages and Literature major at the University of Washington. I mixed archival footage with interviews that blended into a “mockumentary” that compares Greek life to the United States government. It was my first film and also my first experience with filming and editing. Due to lack of time, I was unable to add subtitles to one of the interviews. (The two girls being interviewed compare how different college life is in America compared with colleges in Europe)

Stephen and May

I acted in this film as the role Stephen’s office colleague. it was directed by an Icelandic student at PCFE. It was quite difficult to act in this film cause the role is so opposite of my personality but I think I pulled it off. It was shot on 16mm film.

While Cooking Dinner

I was the cinematographer in this film, which was directed by a student at PCFE from Thailand. There were only three of us on the whole crew so it was quite fun, but hectic. It was shot on DV.

Boombaba and the Spirit Club

This was my midterm film at PCFE and was shot on DV. It was all shot in one day in my apartment in Prague. It is a improv comedy, where each character was given a background story and a motive. I was pleasantly surprised by the convincing performances. It was nominated for a directing award and audience award at PCFE.

One minute Silent

This one-minute short was an exercise at PCFE and was shot by an Italian student. The requirement of the exercise was to shoot a scene with two people and a bench in less than a minute. I acted in it and I thought the over exaggerated facial expressions were quite funny so I kept it.
