Kereokee at Bud Jackson's

So last night was the final's for the annual Bud Jackson's kereokee contest... and man oh man what an event. The music was great. the beer was flowing, the people were sweaty and charismatic. Mike and myself were both contestants - Mike did a amazing Joe Cocker version of "little help from my friends" and sizzling hot -"pour some sugar on me" (def leopard) and I went with my "go-to's" ("Piano Man" and the old "Boot Scootin' Boogie") but were no match for the vocal styles of some other community faces.

All in all it was a spectacular time, thank you Bud for the event. Here are some photos from the event courtesy of Jason Grech's cell phone. If you missed it this year be sure to qualify next year and make your way to the finals.

Crossing the Blues: Visual Arts Invitational

Satellite Gallery wishes to announce the 1st Annual Invitational Artists Exhibition opening on August 22, 2008 and will run through September 12th. The group of 24 artists in this exhibit represent a variety of media. Works of photography, printmaking, bronze sculpture, ceramics, blown and fused glass, painting and mixed media will be shown. It is the intention of the curators of this show to coordinate an exhibit in collaboration with the other Signature Events going on during La Grande's "Crossing the Blues" celebration. This is an attempt to show a cross sample of professional artists working in Union County, though this venue could not include all who live and work here. Each of the 24 artist represented will exhibit on piece of work. Please join us for an evening of fun filled activities in Downtown La Grande during this weekend celebration.
